Colorado

Hi Friends!

Happy last day of October!  (Aaaah! - because that means it's less than two months until Christmas, which is totally exciting and a little stressful all at the same time!)

Eric and I just returned from a four day trip to Colorado to help my brother move.  It was crazy (because last minute packing!), it was busy (because so much to move!), it was exhausting - like every single muscle in my body hurt kind of exhausting  - (because lots of stairs and even more heavy boxes!)

Each day we were up early and worked late into the night.  My goal was to get his home functional before we left (you know things like beds with sheets and pillows for a good night's sleep, bathrooms with essentials, and closets with all clothes hanging so come Monday, his morning routine would be stress-free, and the kitchen and laundry rooms set up for immediate use.)  That was a tall order, but we did it!

It was suggested that since we had worked so hard, that we should take a little side trip to Garden of the Gods since we were in town.  Our last morning, we did just that.

After finding a terrific coffee spot, we drove up the highway to check it out.
It was really beautiful.  I marvel at God's unique handiwork.  So many different textures and patterns.

Below are some (ok, a lot) shots I took.  I hope you enjoy.  And if you find yourself in Colorado Springs, you should take a little side trip to Garden of the Gods.  If you arrive early (when the sun is rising) - the colors are magnificent on the red rocks!

Eric is convinced that the smooth, curvy roadway is absolutely perfect for a downhill longboard race! ;-)

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve my family in this practical way.  I am also thankful to the Lord for keeping us safe and giving us the energy we needed.

  1. Great collection of images. I like that you not only capture the big picture but find the beauty in the details as well. Nicely done. Have a blessed day.

    1. DrillerAA09,
Thanks so much for your encouraging comment. With so much beauty in one place, it was hard to decide on just what to photograph...so I photographed it all. ;-)

  2. What a wonderful part of the world! I visited there briefly before I started taking photos and remember the amazing scenery. Thanks for sharing and I'm sure your brother is thankful for your help moving :)

    1. BettyNZ,
It is beautiful there, and so different from the Pacific Northwest. Isn't so fun to see and experience different places?
      Thanks for stopping by.

If you are able to get to Garden of the Gods, you will not be disappointed! It's a photographer's playground. :-)

  6. So beautiful! I've only been here once (it's a bit of a drive), and it was during the summer. I need to go in the Fall because it looks just wonderful!

    1. Christen Tyre,
I would think spring (with all the new buds and blooms) or fall (with all the changing leaves) would be the best time to visit. But then summer sunsets are amazing too.
If you are able, you should visit again.

  7. Gorgeousness. We were really hoping the second half of our lives would be in that area. It turns out that will not be the case, but that means I get to visit it instead. Your shots make me want to go today. So pretty.

I feel your pain, we packed our entire house up last fall and moved North, and soon hopefully we will be pulling it out of storage and moving again. Aches and pains here I come :-D

    Happy weekend!!

    1. Lisa,
I know that can be disappointing when dreams and deferred or changed, but thankfully we can trust that God knows what is best.

Perhaps your upcoming move will find you in just the right spot that perfectly suits not just your needs, but is also filled with little things that bless your heart (like a beautiful view). I kind of have a love/hate relationship with moving. It's exciting and stressful all at the same time. I dislike the packing and moving, but the unpacking and settling in I really enjoy.

      Happy weekend to you too!
