Hi Friends,
I'm convinced that as a mother, I am allowed to say, without apology, "Where does the time go?" and "It feels like just yesterday when you were born!"
My third-born just turned 21. It some ways it is hard to believe he is already 21. I do remember his birth day so clearly. He was my first natural birth with a midwife. He was my only baby to be born on the due date, he was my biggest baby at 8 lbs, and only a 6 hour labor.
On the other hand, it seems so natural as he has accomplished so much, graduating our high school a year early, earning about 30 college credits so far by CLEPping, and being hired right out of the gate with no prior experience as a bank teller for a national bank. He has handled himself and his "adulting" decisions very maturely.
This year he was able to take a few days off from work to have some down time. I am sure he would have loved to sleep in longer, but as per our usual, there is gift opening early in the morning before others head off to work.
21 or not... he's a geek. (he also received an anonymous star trek belt in the mail. If you sent it, please leave a note in the comments so he can thank you - because he loves it!)
Apparently my kids think that wrapping gifts is as much fun as giving them. 😉
Joy: when you know you chose the perfect gift to give your big brother. (aka brother bonding)
Later in the day, Matt wanted to have JoAnna come over and target shoot. She had never shot a rifle before.
From a mom's perspective it was neat to observe how he instructed her - first on safety and handling, then on loading and shooting.
She did really well, and I think it is safe to say she is hooked.
Matt also sighted in another rifle.
Living in the country does have its benefits.
Fun, but low key - the perfect kind of day.
Birthday dinner request: chicken pot pie.
Followed by cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. This man sure loves his pie!
I wish I could wax eloquent with all that is in my heart, but I am having trouble finding words.
Let's just say that I am so blessed to call him my son.

Now he can go where no person has gone before. So happy the belt docked safely.
