Unusual and unexpected

The most common advice to those who want to improve their photography skills is to take pictures everyday.  Photo challenges are a good way to do that - and boy is it a challenge on many levels.  I think the challenges help you to see the unusual or the beautiful amid the ordinary while having a particular theme in mind.

The sight of these beautiful roses - in a wagon - reminded me of my favorite Dr. Seuss book
And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street.

So I set out to find more of the unusual or unexpected throughout the day.

. . .

Here are those shots from the weekend.

I actually went up to the "Rose Lady" and asked if I could take a picture.
They were that gorgeous...

It looks like a flame...
(Then I had the song, I See Fire from the Hobbit in my head for a while.)

lavender along the sidewalk - its sweet fragrance wafted in the air...

 looking up...

a purple door on a little, yellow cottage...

Blue!  There aren't too many types of flowers that are blue.

squares and octagons

violet veins

 shades of gray

perfectly spaced lines

wavy lines

 a rainbow

black and white in color.

"Marco, keep your eyelids up and see what you can see..."
Dr. Seuss - And to Think that I saw it on Mulberry Street

So that's what I did. J

I haven't figured out yet how to carve out time to take pictures every day, but I think I'll give that a try this summer.  (100 days of pictures.)

I hear stirrings of little people waking - so until next time

  1. Now I see fire
    Inside the mountain
    I see fire
    Burning the trees
    And I see fire
    Hollowing souls
    I see fire
    Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
