It stands to reason...

It is not an uncommon thing here in my little area of suburbia to see people out at the store in their pajama pants, and sometimes even their slippers too.

And, no, I am not kidding.

It makes me think of two things.

1.  When I was a kid, and a woman was seen out in public with curlers in her hair and a handkerchief covering them, it was rather scandalous.  Ok, maybe not quite as bad as that, but really - no one wanted to be that woman.  It was like you were embarrassed for her.

2.  It brings back a memory of when I was young.
My Gramma paid me $5 per week to clean her house.  It was simple stuff: dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom.
One day I remember arriving in brand new white jeans.  (I was probably 13ish).
"Carol, are you going to clean in those pants?" she said a little astonished.
"Yeah.  Do you like them?  They're new!"  I said in my excitement.
"Well, they're nice, but you certainly aren't going to do a good job of cleaning, when you are worried about getting them dirty.  You need to dress appropriately for the job."

That was the best common sense advice ever given.
And...I've never forgotten it.

Dress appropriately for the activity.  You can't go wrong.

  • "Fancy" clothes for fancy occasions like weddings, bridal showers, graduations.
  • "Work/chore" clothes for gardening, weeding, or cleaning.  You know, ones that you don't mind getting dirty or even permanently stained.

Are you with me?
So it stands to reason...

Yoga pants are for... yoga

Pajama pants are for... bedtime!

Thank you for enduring my little rant.

  1. If you are ok with yoga pants as an outfit then you better be ok with pants hanging below the waist on guys.
