This is the Scottish holiday I was eluding to in a previous post except that National Tartan Day is celebrated in America and Canada, but not in Scotland.
There they proudly wear their tartan any day.

April 6, 1320 the Declaration of Arbroath was signed declaring Scotland's independence from Britain. Many of the signers of the American Declaration of Independence were of direct Scottish descent and contributed much to the formation of our nation.
To honor Scottish heritage, the U.S. Congress declared April 6th as
National Tartan Day.

Of course you know that currently Scotland is under British rule. Just last year Scotland put a vote to its citizens ... become an independent nation or stay part of the United Kingdom.
It was a nail-biter kind of day with much to consider.
Choosing to stay part of the U.K.,
