Twins and 24

Ever have one of those days where you start out cheerily about the tasks on the "to-do" list for the day only to realize....God has other plans for you?

Yep - just had one of those days.  I started my laundry first thing only to discover my dryer wasn't working.
Tried to troubleshoot with the manual and the internet, but really it needed my master mechanic. After testing several things, Eric concluded that given the age, and the possible parts needing to be replaced,  that it would be more prudent to replace than repair.

We've replaced the dishwasher, the oven, the refrigerator and now the dryer.  That in mind, we decided to replace the washer at the same time - instead of having to likely replace it next year.

Found a great deal on these.....
Yep!  Can you believe it?  Wild cherry red!  They were cheaper than the white ones.

Unfortunately, they don't arrive until later this week, meanwhile, the laundry was piling up!
I decided to take a trip to the local laundry mat.  Reminiscent of my college days, I loaded up the laundry, detergent, and a good book from the library.  (In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan - Highly recommened!!!!)
Oh MY!  Let's just say that it costs a small fortune now.
{ Note to self.....find a good place to hang a clothes line.}

Since we'll have these snazzy new RED "twins" as we now call them, I thought it might be fun to rethink the laundry room.  The room is small, but it functions well.

Eric made the sorter for me a few years ago. (On the left)
The best thing about it is that the laundry is sorted and out of the way all the time.

But, I saw this idea I really liked it.

With the baskets underneath, it saves even more space.  There are even plans for it!  Eric made it this weekend.
Would you believe after all that....it's not going to work for us unless we replace the cupboards.  Yep, the pedestal puts the washer and dryer too high; we would need shorter cabinets.
I need the larger ones for storage.  Can you believe it?  I'm so dumb.  We measured everything to make sure it would fit, but didn't even think about the height.   UGH!
If you are local and interested in a really great wood pedestal for your front loader washer and dryer - leave me a comment and let me know.  I plan to paint it white.

I think I'll find some cute retro/vintage art to put in red frames and call it good!

In the morning, all things look brighter.
Today is a new day....and my 24th wedding anniversary!

We planned for a simple celebration...dinner at a nice restaurant.
Good thing with the unexpected twins and all!

Next year being our 25th, we are hoping to celebrate it in Hawaii!  I've been saving and saving.  Everytime I want to buy a latte when I am out, I put the money in an envelope instead and just make one when I get home.  I've saved enough for 1 plane ticket so far!!!

Lord willing, we shall share a Shaved Ice with our toes in the Hawaiian sand.
I am so blessed to be married to a Godly man who loves me as Christ loved the church...unconditionally and sacrificially.

Happy Anniversary, Eric.  You are the man of my dreams!
 XOXOXO and.....aloha
