Freedom Isn't Free!

Today we took the kids to the Sultan Cemetery for Memorial Day services. It's so important to us to remind our children that a very high price has been paid for our freedom. Men and Women willingly risked their lives (and lost!) so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. Freedom to worship our God without fear or threat of danger; freedom to elect government officials; even freedom to speak our mind freely about those leaders, just to name a few.
When we arrived we were greeted by several members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. They looked so pleased to see young people attend the service. I think it actually gave them hope that this current generation still does care about this great nation!

I know a lot of people who have served or who are currently serving in our military.
I am so thankful for them! If you are one of them reading this post...Thank YOU!

A "Sweet" Gift

One of the ladies from my church gave me a "sweet" gift for my baby shower gift. She promised to make a batch of cookies for my family once per month for a year. So I guess you could say that we are in the "cookie of the month club"! Just this last Sunday, we received our 3rd batch - molasses cookies (My favorite!!) Now you might be saying, "Oh, that's very nice, but what's the big deal about a batch of cookies?", but this gal knows how to make cookies! They are huge (probably 4" in diameter) every one of them...AND there's enough for my large family to have several each. We enjoy them and ooh and ahh over how yummy they are. They don't last long in our home. Then several weeks later my faithful cookie maker friend delivers a new batch to us.
It's such a fun treat to have our cookie jar stocked with a new type of cookie each month. It's such a simple thing, really, but such a blessing!

Rain? In Washington..... no way!

We have had so much rain this spring! It really can get you down, if you let it. So - we look for rainbows instead. I found one in my own back yard!
