Good Friday

I just couldn't let today go by without saying how thankful I am that Christ died for me! This day in history - Good Friday. One wouldn't normally call a day someone died as "good", but this someone was Jesus - Emmanuel (God with us). Only He could accomplish paying my debt to God for my sinful, wretched self. He died in my place. The Bible says, " For the wages of sin is death" (I have sinned and so I must die.)...but the rest of the verse says, "BUT the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Christ took the place for me by his death on the cross. I now have eternal life because I believe He is God, He died to take away my sin, I am forgiven. All the "good things" I do in this life do not get me to heaven, but it is His finished work on the cross that accomplishes that. "It is by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
I am so thankful for 2 things (well countless things, but 2 related to this...) 1. He did what He did because He loves me (For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16) AND 2. there is hope because in 3 days we will celebrate His resurrection. He is alive. He is Risen - JUST AS HE SAID!!

Happy Birthday, Matthew

Wow - Matt just celebrated his 15th birthday! He is one sweet kiddo. He is an avid reader, loves wolves and husky dogs and desires to one day live in Alaska. Oh - and he is taller than his dad and brother...and is still growing!! His fun loving ways add so much to our family and we are so blessed to have him as a son. Happy Birthday, Matthew!

Cake Decorating

Our church has a girls' group called Daughters of the King. This group is designed to teach them spiritually to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus, but also in practical skills as well. One of the things Hannah has learned is cake decorating. No doubt she will indeed be blessing us with her new skills....we have lots of opportunities for cake in our home with 10 birthdays to celebrate! The cake in this photo was white cake with rocky road filling and butter cream frosting. DELICIOUS!!

More pictures for the Grandparents!

Sarah's First Car

Sarah bought her first car! It's 1989 Mercury Tracer. It gets good gas mileage and she is loving having her own wheels!

Another new addition

Our old (not really old - only 6 years old) range died! It was so frustrating to think that dinner was baking in the oven when in reality the oven temperature was only at 200 or off all together. Some friends of ours told us about an appliance recycling center in a town nearby. I was sceptical not wanting someone else's troubles. We decided to give it a try since this place sells new and reconditioned appliances. Well, we found this brand new baby there! This Electrolux is AMAZING! It has 2 ovens, both bake conventionally and convectionally. There are options for "perfect turkey", "slow cooking", "bread proofing", 3 favorite settings and more that I haven't even used yet. It has 5 burners on the cooktop too. I am so blessed. This is a $2800 oven that we got for a fraction of that!! God was so good to supply this wonderful appliance and we got to bring it home the day we found it - no waiting for a delivery!

Love Love Love!

There is nothing so sweet as the newborn days!!
