Up is Down - Down is Up?

Ok - so on top of all the birthdays we are getting ready for kidding season. We have eight goats. Three of our does went on "holiday". We know that two are due in March, but aren't sure about the third. (We suspect, not.)

Last summer we built a new barn and moved the 8 x 8 cedar shed (read "milk room") up next to the new barn from the lower part of the property. It didn't fare too well in that move so Eric has been making repairs. We borrowed a boom truck from our neighbor so that the roof of the milk room could be lifted off, the walls squared up, then the roof replaced. Sounds easy enough, right?
Let me say, NO ONE was hurt and NOTHING was broken! Amazing! Another neighbor came to our rescue with his tow truck and chains and helped Eric right this huge truck. So - now we start again. Pray for good weather on the weekend and see if we can't get our milk room in fine order before the babies arrive.

Our new driver!

I haven't blogged in a looong time. Been too busy! February is a crazy month with 4 birthdays. February 2nd is Groundhog's Day. Have you ever read the children's book, A Garden for Groundhog by Lorna Balian? It sure seems to be the way our gardening goes around here. Anyway, Groundhog's Day was also Eric's grandfather's birthday. We miss him. He was a light in our life. So February starts and we take a breath and plan a little something special for the children on Valentine's Day, which is also Dan's birthday - to be followed by Eric's which is followed by Abbies (and Grandpa Marcel's) and then last, but not least, Caleb's (and Uncle Marcel's follows that) Whew. Two birthday cakes, 2 pecan pies (Eric and Caleb's fave!) lots of chocolate, and lots of smiles are found in our home in February.

Happy Birthentine!

Our little Valentine gift turned 7. On Saturday, the day before his birthday, he had a fun "Lego" birthday party with a few friends. I had a clever idea to make a Lego cake (just a 9 x 13 with cupcakes on top and frosted to look like a Lego brick, but it wasn't as easy to frost that as you might think.) It was his first birthday party and he had a great time.
