The Beach - a little slice of heaven on earth!

We recently went to Warrenton, Oregon for a family get away. Our neighbors own a little cottage just 1/2 mile from the beach. We were able to stay there and walk to the beach every day! You can actually drive right onto the beach as well - so we did that too....loaded up the truck with the surfboards, skimboards, towels and kiddos and headed off for the day. SO FUN!!

The weather was fabulous. Typical beach weather - a bit overcast in the morning, but that burned away early. It was sunny and breezy with a nice swell. The ocean water is ccccold!! But inspite of that the kids played in the water. I dipped my toes and called it good.

The thing I didn't expect was that the forest seems to meet the sea. Truly, no wonder Lewis and Clark were so surprised to see the ocean in view. The deer would come into the yard every night and munch on the crab apples hanging on the tree. I would wake up around 2 am to the sound of slurping and munching. Who knew deer ate so noisily!

One day was too cold for the beach (because of the on shore breeze....read wind) so we drove just 8 miles south to Seaside for the day. That's a fun little beach town with lots of shops for browsing.

We all had such a wonderful time of refreshment. Eric and I realized just how much we miss living at the beach. The beach truly is a feast for all the senses! The smell of the salt air, the sound of the waves and seagulls, the feel of the warm sun on your skin and sand between your toes, the taste of the salty ocean water after a great surf session. We are hoping to return again soon.
