12!

Are you ready for some football?
If you live in the Seattle area you will see signs of the 12th man
E V E R Y W H E R E.
I began to really notice it last year {2013 football season}.  As the season progressed, and the wins increased so did 12th man support.  Fans even broke the Guinness World Record for crowd noise {137.6 decibels} at the game on December 2, 2013.

I happened to be in Colorado, in rival Broncos territory, last January prior to the Super Bowl, but I have to say they had nothin' on us.  Bits of orange and blue were here and there, but if they had come to Washington, they'd been green {and blue} with envy for sure.

Seahawk fanmania was over the top when our beloved team won the Super Bowl last year.
One might think that it would dwindle in the off season, but no.  It didn't.  It hasn't.  In fact it is even MORE!  Obsessive? Passionate? Crazy?  Yes, yes, and yes.

So with that in mind, here is a little photo ode to the 12th Man.
Come along; I'll show you where I've seen him recently.

Incidentally, "Super Bowl Sunday" is now referred to as "Seahawk Sunday".
That's the 12th man for you.

Skate Day

Skateboarding is a family favorite for us.  A nearby neighborhood has an unfinished housing development which is the perfect place to ride because there is a smooth road with very little traffic.

Eric wanted to go "bomb a hill."
That's where you just head straight down - picking up speed, and more speed.  Seriously.
*
Caleb wanted to try out power slides.
That's where you crouch down and use the pucks on the gloves and slide.

                                                                                                       *
Matt wanted to work with his new telephoto lens.
That's where you get really great shots and maybe a few weird ones too.

And Me? Any excuse to enjoy a sunny afternoon doing fun things with fun people...I'm in.

And now a little product placement:  Sector 9 helmet, Blood Orange puck gloves, Bustin longboard. Wouldn't it be cool if they sponsored the Silver Longboarder?  After all, how many "senior" skaters are there?

My new skate shoes. :-)

Maybe we should call him the Green Machine instead of the Silver Longboarder?

Dueling cameras.
Matt has a Cannon T3i.

I have a Nikon D40.
*
Here is the street.  It looks like a mild mannered one.
 *
but, we definitely picked up speed.  {A little scary and I wiped out...figures!}
 *
*
Time to change gears.
The challenge for me is to capture the moment.

*
Eric ~ heading down and picking up speed.
{he blurred by me, but Matt caught him.}

Eric showed the boys how to power slide.

What's missing?

Here is Caleb giving it a go
. . .
set up

grab the board

lean in

use the pucks

 turn hard

stand back up

Matt's turn

Nicely done, Boys.
We were only there for an hour or so, but it was so nice to be out in the sunshine and fresh air.  Next time we'll head to the skateboard park with everyone.
. . . . .

The photos with a * are Matt's really great shots

...and these are his weird ones.

Sneak Peak

Eric's new board arrived!   {Thank you, Stay Fit Program}

He went with a Bustin board again.  He likes how the concave board gives a comfortable ride.  He says it is the closest thing to real surfing.
He chose bright lime green for visibility.    :-)
He's trying new wheels this time.  These Orangatangs are huge, but they are supposed to be good for speed and carving.

I feel a skate day coming....
