Surfing and the treasure trove!

You know I'm old fashioned.  I love hand written letters delivered by snail mail.  I love old fashioned quilts and hand stitched linens - especially ones handed down that have their own story....BUT - today I love technology.  While reading this blog, I clicked on a link which brought me to an amazing GF site!  She has link upon link in her blog roll...surfing at it's best.  It's a like the best right swell with lots of switchbacks...oh, but I digress.
This site really is an amazing treasure trove of  GF/DF sites.

Because of this, I added a new section on my blog - to the right...Gluten Free/Dairy Free websites.
Living with food sensitivities is challenging, and at times very discouraging.  Ingredients are expensive and when the recipe is a flop either because it tastes yucky or because it just doesn't behave like "traditional" ingredients, it's really a sad day!
I'm just so excited for these resources for our home and if you are on a gluten free journey,  I hope it helps you too.

Super Cute Kitchen Towels...for YOU

I made some towels like these for a friend and I thought they turned out pretty cute.

I'm crazy about polka dots! I love fun kitchen towels!

It usually happens that I'll make something for someone and I will love it, but then I never get around to making one for myself.
BUT, the other day I decided my kitchen needed a fall towel.  I decided to add some white rick rack that I had and I think the rick rack made it even extra cute.... so retro.....so cheerful.

Isn't it just so nice when you have your kitchen all cleaned and in order and then you have a fresh towel to dress it up?  I just love that ~ don't you?

I thought you might,  so......

I made some towels with you in mind.

In my opinion no kitchen can have enough cute towels.

They would make great gifts (what with Christmas coming) or they can grace your own kitchen!

They are 100% cotton with a little loop on the upper, right hand, back corner for hanging on a knob.

18" x 27"

$7.50 each or 3 for $20.

I have assorted colors with coordinating polka dot fabric.
  • orange/orange with white dots                                                  {sold out}
  • lime green/purple with lime green dots
  • orange/hot pink with orange dots
  • brown/brown with light pink dots                                            {sold out}
  • aqua/yellow with aqua dots                                                        {sold out}
  • celery green/ celery with white dots                                         {sold out}
  • white/red with white dots (these dots are smaller)

If you'd like something different, I can see what I can do for you. :-)

If you are local, I can deliver them, or I can ship anywhere in the U.S. using priority mail flat rate.  Shipping prices vary depending on the size of your order. ($5.95 - 11.95)

So, there you are thinking I'm devouring those books, just too busy reading to blog....HA!
I really did have the best of intentions of reading them all, but LIFE happened.  Lest you be disappointed in me, I did make it through a couple of them.

Just the other weekend, Eric and I flew to Colorado to see family and celebrate birthdays.  I took a couple of books with me, thinking I'd have time to read, but truthfully, I had such fun being with my very best friend, I didn't want to read.

I could hardly believe it had been 7 years since we last saw my dad and his wife.  How is it that the days fly so quickly?  A sweet friend of mine had a needlepoint sign framed in her living room that said, " The hurrier I go, the behinder I get."  That's exactly how I feel.  My days are filled with homeschooling, homemaking, homekeeping.  I flop into bed at night exhausted.  Sometimes, I lose sight of life beyond my small little circle of responsibility....but time continues to march on.  I am so glad we could make this little short, but special trip to connect with family again.

Fourteen of us were able to gather and celebrate.

The October Birthday Kids

Dad and Jodi

My nephew aspires to be a chef.  Here he is in action.

The meal he prepared was PHENOMENAL!!

A few weeks ago I took some photos of the kids.  The weather was just beautiful and the frames needed updated photos.  I got some great shots, trouble is, I never remember which way to take the photograph - landscape or portrait.  I needed some in landscape format, but did I get those?  Oh no.  So, I still have frames that need updated photos.  I think I'm going to buy some smaller frames for the 4 x 6 pictures.  I'm thinking that will probably be easier than going for another shoot.

If there is one thing I have learned over the years - it's this.... enjoy the kids EVERY day - kiss them lots, love them lots, make a connection EVERY day because they change and grow so so fast!!
